Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a location with partial shade to full sun and well-draining acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Gently loosen roots and place the tree in the hole. backfilling with native soil and compost. Spread a layer of mulch 3 feet around the tree to conserve moisture, insulate roots, and suppress weeds.  Water deeply after planting.

2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, especially during the first year. Water deeply to encourage strong root growth, particularly during dry spells or hot months.

3. Pruning: Light pruning can be performed after flowering to maintain shape and promote air circulation. Remove any dead or damaged branches as needed to ensure the tree remains healthy.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth begins. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for dosage, but generally, a slow-release formula will provide the necessary nutrients throughout the growing season.
